ToF (time of flight) sensor

Sensors that calculate the flight time: they emit invisible light in the infrared range (850 nm) that bounces off the objects it encounters and measures the distance. They also allow the presence of objects to be detected without the invasiveness of the “passive infrared sensors” sensors and relative lens, but above all they are as well the motion sensors also suitable for automatic lighting systems.
There are plenty of possible applications: the distance calculated between the source and a moving object (even a hand) could correspond to a dimming of the light, useful for example in spaces (corridors, stairs, etc.) where it lights up only when people pass or they fade if the room is empty, completely safe and guaranteeing high energy savings.Very small dimensions even of a few millimeters.

Temperature and humidity sensors

Sensors that measure the temperature and humidity, fundamental to determine the quality of indoor and outdoor air.
In some countries, such as Germany, they are mandatory in the workplace in order to monitor and certify that the data relating to air healthiness, fall within parameters set by very strict laws that con lead to quite high fines in case of non-compliance.
This type of sensor can also be integrated into lamps and interfaced with a home automation system connected with the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) part, for interesting and innovative solutions.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Sensor

Volatile organic compound (VOC) sensors are now essential to understand the degree of pollution within different environments. The application areas are multiple, including odor monitoring and related implementation of devices designed to reduce them.

PM1-10 fine dust (VOC) sensor

Sensors for the detection of fine powders that measure all those particles from 1 micron up to 10 microns, also indicated in values as PM1 – PM10. Fundamental for indoor applications and to understand the degree of pollution, but equally interesting outdoors, to find out for instance, the most appropriate time to take advantage of outdoor spaces in the hours of lower pollution concentration if these are located in the city center.

CO2 sensor

The CO2 detecting sensors are now indispensable in various indoor applications, where the increase in carbon dioxide affects not only the quality of life but also the concentration of the operators. In conjunction with a HVAC system can automate the air change based on the quantity detected and reintroduce oxygen into the environment or more simply warn the user to open a window (or have it done automatically by a system)
Equally interesting are the flow sensors that allow you to monitor the clogging of filters in all those devices where it is necessary to provide feedback to the user.
The main domestic applications are kitchen hoods and air purifiers while in the industrial application the treatment cabinets including heating and air conditioning.

Light sensors

Sensors that detect both the quantity of light and its colour and intensity. The practical applications are numerous and ingenious: it is possible to standardize the light thanks to the connected lamp bodies, to modify it according to the external environmental conditions and to automate both indoor and outdoor lighting systems. Thanks to the amount of light perceived by the sensor, it is also possible to manage air conditioning systems that can come into operation at certain times of the day.
The result in this case is an optimization of the use of electricity and at the same time an improvement in the biological conditions of the environment

Vibration sensors

This type of sensors can be self-powered and hidden even in the most critical installations and are able to perform static or dynamic measurements.
They can be used for safety monitoring or simply to recognize a touch command.

MEMS sensors

They include Accelerometer, Magnetometer and Gyroscope.

The operation of MEMS can be described by considering the integrated circuit as the “brain” of the system, capable of monitoring the surrounding environment through other devices (“senses” and “arms”) present on the same chip. In this way, the system collects information by measuring mechanical and magnetic phenomena.
The equipment processes the information obtained from the sensors and responds to changes in the time interval by converting physical quantities into electrical impulses, using appropriate logic to process this information and finally responding with certain actions
